Day 1 - Sat. CATANIA
IIndependent arrival at your hotel. Meet your fellow travelers. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2 -Sun. CATANIA – SIRACUSA – RAGUSA
Breakfast. Depart for Syracuse. The visit to the archaeological area includes the Roman and Greek Amphitheaters, the cave of Dyonisios Ear and the Latomie of the Paradise. Explore the historical baroque center located on Ortiga Island. With its quaint streets. Lunch on your own. Depart for Ragusa, the finest Baroque City on Sicily. Dinner and overnight..
Day 3 - Mon. RAGUSA – CALTAGIRONE – PIAZZA ARMERINA – AGRIGENTO
Breakfast. Leave for Caltagirone, the town famous for Sicilian Ceramics. Continue to Piazza Armerina for a visit of the Villa Romana del Casale with its 3500 sqm of well preserved Roman mosaics. Lunch includes local specialties. Drive to Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples. Here are 5 temples lined up over a mile and a half, better preserved than the Temples in Greece. Dinner, then an unforgettable tour of the Valley of the Temples by night.
Day 4 - Tue. AGRIGENTO – PALERMO – MONREALE
After breakfast transfer to Palermo. Check-in, free time, lunch on your own.
Afternoon visit of Monreale, the Cathedral with its exquisite mosaics, the Benedictine Cloister in an Arab-Norman style. View the historical center of Palermo including the Cathedral with the sarcophagus of Federico II, the Holy Roman Emperor having brought the Arab decimal system to Europe in the 13th century. Stops are also planned at the Palatine Chapel the Royal Palace.
Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 - Wed. PALERMO – SEGESTA – ERICE – TRAPANI – PALERMO
Breakfast. By motorcoach to Segesta to admire the Temple and the Theater surrounded by a unique landscape. Continue to the medieval village of Erice placed on the top of a hill. Lunch on your own. We descend to Trapani for viewing the still operating salt-windmills before returning to Palermo.
Dinner at a local restaurant. Panoramic tour of Palermo by night. Overnight.
Day 6 - Thu. PALERMO – CEFALU – PARCO DEI BEBRODI – TAORMINA
Breakfast. Depart for Cefalu to visit the Arab-Norman Cathedral. Wander thru the narrow streets and stop for a cone of delicious home-made ice cream. Driving on to the Park of “Nebrodi” and a stop at the Miraglia Forest for lunch. Continue to Cesaro Randazzo and visit the Etna Park for viewing Mt Etna from an unusual point of view. Arrival in Taormina in time for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 - Fri. TAORMINA – MT. ETNA – TAORMINA
After breakfast, weather permitting, morning excursion to Mt Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Afternoon at leisure in Taormina for shopping or walking thru the tiny streets and alleys. Visit the Roman-Greek Theater on your own. Farewell dinner and overnight..
Day 8 - Sat. TAORMINA – GIARDINI NAXOS
After breakfast, end of tour. Please inquire about transfers to Catania Airport or other onward travel arrangements.
