Bansko in Bulgaria was always a ski resort, but thanks to the European Union could upgrade hotels and its ski lift infrastructure. Hotels and service may be compared now with any Alpine ski resort but a lower price tag. The vertical drop is 7500 feet and the 50 miles of prepared runs are mostly for intermediates. Noteworthy are a snowboarders’ fun park, 5 miles of night skiing, a motorcoach excursion program into the Bulgarian country side and 4 baby lifts.
